A fixture on the Sequoia courts for 38 years, his teams captured five league championships between 1942 and 1960, and his pupils from around the Bay Area were prominent in junior tournaments throughout the country. He was noted for discovering latent tennis talent and extracting their best in competition. As a player, he captured 23 singles and eight doubles titles against the best competition in Northern California, and achieved top ten rankings between 1962 and 1970.
