Five of his Sequoia baseball teams advanced to Central Coast Section championship play in the 1980s. His varsity water polo squad was third in the North Coast Section in 1960, and Frosh-Soph water polo won Region I CCS honors in 1969. Developing 19 All-American water polo players and swimmers, he was named the county’s Athletic Director of the Year in 1985. Eighty-five percent of his water polo and swimming athletes advanced to colleges such as Stanford, UC Davis, Dartmouth and UC Santa Barbara. He served as a Redwood City recreation commissioner and senior assistance volunteer.
