Earned All-League swimming honors twice as his 1953 Cherokees ended Palo Alto’s 19-game winning streak. 1953 water polo team went undefeated in winning AAU junior championship. At San Jose State, helped Spartans win Northern California water polo title twice while serving as team captain and Most Valuable Player in 1958. Was state champion in 100-yard breaststroke in 1958; was a member of the 1959 San Francisco Olympic Club water polo team that won National AAU Senior Outdoor Championship. While coaching at College of San Mateo, won six Golden Gate Conference championships in water polo and two in swimming. At the international level, coached the U.S. Maccabian water polo team to gold medals in 1969 and 1967.
