Team captain and all-league honoree in both baseball and basketball; performed four years in each sport from 1934 through 1938. Frosh-Soph baseball teams won league championships in 1935-36, and 110s basketball team won 1935 championship. In senior year (1938) led his team to the varsity basketball title. Attended Santa Clara on baseball scholarship, and was a leading hitter on freshman team. Played several semi-pro baseball seasons, and Industrial League basketball with Beavers AC. Long career as Parks and Recreation Director for San Mateo County (Ravenswood) and City of San Carlos (Jack Farrell Park in the city of East Palo Alto bears his name); subsequently Atherton City Manager before his death in 1988.
