The driving force behind a generation of superb soccer players throughout the South County, his teams won league titles in 1967, 1968, and 1970, and took the Central Coast Section championship in 1970. Several of his Sequoia players went on to community college and Division I teams, and he developed many other prep stars at Menlo-Atherton and Ravenswood high schools during a 35-year coaching career. At Sequoia, Mangiola also was a successful gymnastics coach.
