A two-time football all-leaguer during the tumultuous period at the beginning of World War II, “Red” Bielenberg was one of Sequoia’s most versatile athletes. In football, he achieved the unique distinction of All-PAL status in two positions—first-team tackle in 1941 and first-team halfback in 1942. The same year, he was elected president of the Block “S” Society. A four-year baseball letterman, he enjoyed continued diamond success with the Army Air Corps in California and Puerto Rico throughout the 1940’s. “Red” passed away in 2004.
