All League varsity lineman and played on two championship football teams at Sequoia.  Earned a football scholarship to Santa Clara University and played on Bronco team that defeated Kentucky, 21-13, in 1950 Orange Bowl in Miami. After graduation, taught and coached at Hayward High and taught PE and was assistant football coach at San Carlos High. Served as Athletic Director at San Carlos High until his death in 1978.
